buying app

Joel bought little hooks to hang our curtains yesterday. Bought no new things today.
It was frustrating to have to buy the hooks especially because they didn't work and the curtains now are still tacked to the windows (which looks, you guessed it, tacky!).
It's probably not appropriate to note a buying app in a no-new-things-blog but I came across a website called goodguide.com that also apparently has an iphone app that lets you scan barcodes to determine what it's best to buy from a green point of view. It rates food according to health, environment, and society. So it fits for me for buying food. The website rates a range of things from deodorants to household cleaners to food. When we have to buy new things, it does make sense to consider green issues (I wonder if Joel's little plastic hooks were on the app?). I don't have this app yet but I'll probably get it (and then I'll have to resist the urge to move through stores scanning everything I see and buying weird things just because they have good ratings!)
